PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: July 30, 2026

This policy explains how ldjing studio, the developer of undervoice, handles information when you use the iPhone and Mac apps, visit this website, or contact support. undervoice is designed to keep speech and transcript content on devices you control instead of sending it to an undervoice cloud transcription service.

1. The short version

We do not run an audio or transcript relay, storage, or transcription server. We do not use your audio or transcripts to train AI models. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, display ads, or use third-party advertising trackers. This website does not use analytics cookies.

A small amount of request or purchase information is processed by service providers only when needed to deliver the website, download speech models, or verify purchases. Those cases are described below.

2. Microphone audio and speech recognition

undervoice accesses the microphone only after you start voice input. On iPhone, audio is held briefly in memory and sent directly to the Mac you selected and paired. The connection authenticates both devices and protects audio, transcripts, and control messages with authenticated encryption and a new session key for each connection. Speech recognition runs locally using models stored on the Mac. Microphone audio is never saved as an audio file.

The devices may connect over your local network or a private network you configure, such as Tailscale. Network operators can see ordinary metadata—addresses, timing, and the volume of encrypted traffic—but not encrypted audio or transcript content. Mac microphone input is also recognized locally on the Mac.

3. Transcripts and data kept on your devices

Final transcripts return to iPhone and may be inserted in the text field selected on Mac. iPhone transcript history stays local and expires after 30 days. Mac history is local when enabled; it defaults to one hour, with options for seven or 30 days, no history, deleting individual items, or clearing everything.

The Mac app also keeps private on-device usage statistics such as date and time, character count, speaking and processing duration, model, delivery result, and the destination app name and bundle identifier. They contain no audio or transcript content. Pairing records, device identifiers, settings, and cryptographic material remain locally—including in Keychain where appropriate—until you reset pairing or remove app data.

If clipboard compatibility or fallback is used, the transcript enters the macOS clipboard. Apple features such as Universal Clipboard may process or sync it according to your system settings. Once text is inserted, pasted, copied, or submitted to another app, that app’s own privacy policy applies.

4. Diagnostics

The apps keep a limited on-device diagnostic timeline for microphone, recognition, network, and text-insertion behavior. Entries can include timestamps, timings, short random identifiers, app bundle identifiers, character counts, device state, and error descriptions—but never microphone audio or transcript text. Up to 300 recent entries are kept. Nothing is sent automatically; we receive diagnostics only when you choose to export and share them, for example in a support email.

5. Permissions

On iPhone, undervoice may request microphone access for voice input, camera access to scan the Mac pairing code, and local-network access to find and connect to your Mac. Pairing-code images are not uploaded. On Mac, it may request microphone access for Mac voice input, local-network access for the paired connection, and Accessibility access to insert recognized text. You can revoke permissions in Apple System Settings, but the related feature will stop working.

6. Purchases and free-use status

Apple handles App Store purchases and payment information; we do not receive your full card details. undervoice uses RevenueCat to show offerings, validate and restore purchases, and maintain entitlement status. For those purposes, RevenueCat may process an automatically generated app user ID, receipts and purchase history, product and entitlement data, IP-derived country, and technical app or device data. The number of successful free transcriptions is stored locally in Apple Keychain. Apple and RevenueCat process their information under their own privacy policies.

7. Website, downloads, and support

Cloudflare delivers and protects this website and may process standard request and security data, including IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, request time, and security signals. undervoice currently has no website accounts, advertising, analytics scripts, or analytics cookies.

The Mac app downloads speech-model files directly from Hugging Face. Hugging Face and network providers may receive ordinary request data such as IP address, time, and file URL. If you independently use Tailscale, its handling of account and network metadata is governed by its own policy.

When you email us, we process your address, message, attachments, and any diagnostics you choose to send so we can reply, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and keep necessary support records. Do not send audio or transcript content unless you want us to review it.

8. How and why information is used

We and the providers named here use information only as needed to deliver and secure the apps and website, enable and verify purchases, download app resources, answer support requests, comply with law, and protect our rights and users. Where applicable, the legal bases are performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, legal obligations, and consent where required.

9. Disclosure, international processing, and retention

We disclose information only to the providers identified here, when you direct us, when required by law or valid process, to protect safety and rights, or in a protected merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale. Providers may process information outside your country under their own legal safeguards and privacy policies.

On-device information follows the periods and controls in Section 3. Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as needed for entitlements and legal duties. Cloudflare and Hugging Face keep request logs under their policies. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain records, prevent abuse, and comply with law, then delete or anonymize it.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You can stop microphone processing, revoke permissions, clear transcript history, reset pairing, stop using optional private-network services, or delete the apps and their local data. Apple or RevenueCat may need to retain purchase records for entitlements, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, or legal reasons.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, appeal a decision, or complain to a data-protection authority. Email [email protected] for information we control; we may need to verify your request. Because most undervoice data stays only on your devices, we generally cannot retrieve or erase it remotely.

11. Children’s privacy

undervoice is a general productivity tool, not a service directed to children under 13 or the minimum age set by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so we can take appropriate action.

12. Security

We use safeguards appropriate to the information handled, including device authentication, authenticated encryption for paired-device messages, per-connection session keys, Keychain storage for sensitive local material, and HTTPS for the website. No method is perfectly secure. Treat a pairing QR code like a password and reset pairing if it may have been exposed.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the new version at this URL and revise the date above. We will provide additional notice for material changes where required.
